Weekly Specials at the Maritime Market - 7/11

Good Morning Fellow Islanders!

It's 64 degrees in Blowing Rock this morning, with a cool breeze coming off
the mountain and a chorus of birds, dogs and roosters mingling with the
babbles of the nearby creek. The air is crisp & cool, with hues of pink &
purple reflecting the coming dawn. Back on BHI, it's 80 degrees, with dawn
revealing mostly clear skies, and a light westerly breeze stirring up the
South Beach surf. Look for mostly sunny skies today, with just a touch
more humidity than our glorious yesterday, as highs push to the upper 80's.
We'll cool to the upper 70's overnight, and warm to the mid 80's tomorrow,
with partly sunny skies and a slight chance of afternoon or evening showers
that could linger through Friday, before clearing out and leaving a sunny &
warm weekend, with clear skies and mild breezes. Hurricane Chris - far
into the Atlantic - poses no threats to the island other than a continued
risk of rip currents, while the remnants of Beryl could regenerate into a
tropical cyclone by the end of the week, but also following Chris' track to
the north & northeast and hence no issues for the island. High tide is
upon us now. Low tide will occur around 12:30 this afternoon, and high
tide returns at about 7 this evening.

For breakfast this morning, Chef Marc is preparing a hearty western
omelette - loaded with diced ham, peppers, onions & cheddar cheese, with a
side of crispy hash browns for just $8.95. For lunch today, Marc is
featuring a delicious sauteed Atlantic salmon, topped with a coconut chili
sauce and served with Carribean rice and seasonal veggies for only 11.95.
Order any item from our regular menu on-line at [1],
and your order will be ready when you arrive.

The Conservancy's next Turtle Trot happens this morning, with registration
beginning at 8:30am and the race getting underway around 9:30am. All
proceeds benefit turtle protection efforts.

The next island-wide Litter Sweep takes place later this morning, and after
a busy Independence week, the island can use a little tidying up, so gather
your friends and meet at the new Public Safety building on Edward Teach
Wynd at 11am to pick up your grabbers and trash bags. Snacks will be
available, and prizes will be given for the most unusual piece of litter
found. Community Service credit is also awarded.

It's "free corkage night" tonight at the BHI Club, and members pay no
corkage fees for wines brought from home. If you need help in selecting a
bottle, drop by the Market - we have some terrific summer whites, along
with some superb Provence Rose :)

The BHI Club Championship takes place this coming weekend - from Friday,
July 13 thru Sunday, July 15, and while the Men's Championship Division
features a qualifying round on Friday (at scratch - from the tips), the
rest of us will get the full benefit of our handicaps in the flighted
rounds on Saturday & Sunday. It's a great weekend of golf for all, with
lunch provided on Saturday, so sign up by calling Brian at the pro shop at
