Tuesday Specials at the Maritime Market - 7/10
Good Morning Fellow Islanders!
It's 62 degrees in Blowing Rock this morning, and an unseasonably pleasant
67 degrees on the island, with crisp dry air and a faint breeze barely
moving nearby cedars & palms, as the hues of dawn reveal mostly clear skies
with a few isolated wispy clouds in the upper atmosphere. Seize this rare
dry & pleasant July day with haste and get outside as quick as you can.
Look for sunny skies all day, with highs in the mid 80's and light
northerly breezes becoming southerly by dusk. We'll cool to the low 70's
overnight, and warm to the upper 80's tomorrow, with the southerly breezes
bringing summer's humidity slowly back to normal, and summer's patterns of
isolated showers returning on Thursday, with partly sunny skies through the
coming weekend. Tropical Storm Chris (soon to be Hurricane Chris) will
continue to affect the East Beach surf, and strong rip currents are
possible, so take great care in the water. Otherwise, enjoy this gorgeous
day at the beach :). Low tide will occur around 11:30 this morning, and
high tide will peak at about 6 this evening.
For breakfast this morning, Chef Marc is preparing a short stack of our
delectable banana pancakes, with a side of fresh cut summer fruit for only
$8.95. For lunch today, Marc is featuring a delicious chicken marsala
with penne pasta and seasonal veggies for just $10.95. Order any item from
our regular menu on-line at www.maritimetogo.com, and your order will be
ready when you arrive.
Drop by Turtle Central this afternoon for their "Turtle Tuesday" from
4-6pm, and you'll enjoy a wine tasting, shopping specials, corn hole and
much more, while supporting the Conservancy's on-going efforts to protect
our sea turtles.
From Turtle Central, its just a short walk or bike ride over to the Shoals
Club for their weekly "Taco Tuesdsay" buffet by the pool at the Sandbar
Grille, or enjoy a cocktail up at Latitudes and take in the gorgeous
weather overlooking the Cape.
The next island-wide Litter Sweep takes place tomorrow morning, and after a
busy Independence week, the island can use a little tidying up, so gather
your friends and meet at the new Public Safety building on Edward Teach
Wynd at 11am to pick up your grabbers and trash bags. Snacks will be
available, and prizes will be given for the most unusual piece of litter
found. Community Service credit is also awarded.
The BHI Club Championship takes place this coming weekend - from Friday,
July 13 thru Sunday, July 15, and while the Men's Championship Division
features a qualifying round on Friday (at scratch - from the tips), the
rest of us will get the full benefit of our handicaps in the flighted
rounds on Saturday & Sunday. It's a great weekend of golf for all, with
lunch provided on Saturday, so sign up by calling Brian at the pro shop at
Through the season, many events take place weekly, including the following:

Enjoy this wonderful summer day on the island with your friends & family,
and we'll see you 'round the Market!
