Monday Specials at the Maritime Market - 6/11
Good Morning Fellow Islanders!
It's 78 degrees on the front porch this morning, and a stiff breeze is
rustling the nearby palms and kicking up a roaring South Beach surf. The
pre-dawn sky is full of stars, and the critters remain slumbered, with the
only sounds being that of the wind and the waves. As the dawn breaks, look
for partly sunny skies with a robust southwesterly breeze and highs inching
into the low 80's. Showers or thunderstorms may develop this afternoon,
with a better chance after dusk and through the evening. The winds and the
temperature will both drop slightly overnight, with spotty showers or
thunderstorms lingering through tomorrow. We'll settle back into our
summer patterns on Wednesday and through the coming weekend, with partly
sunny skies, light breezes and a chance of a pop-up shower. High tide will
peak just before the dawn breaks. Low tide will occur around Noon, and
high tide returns at about 6:30 this evening.
For breakfast this morning, Chef Marc is featuring a hearty breakfast
casserole, with eggs, sausage, bacon & cheese for just $8.95. For lunch,
enjoy Radar's famous country meatloaf, with roasted potatoes & seasonal
veggies for only $8.95. Order any of our regular menu items on-line
at www.maritimetogo.com and your order will be ready when you arrive.
The Pirate Invasion takes place this coming weekend, and the full schedule
of events, including parties, invasions, and pirate encampments can be
found at www.baldheadislandpirateinvasion.com or
gowww.facebook.com/BaldHeadIslandPirateInvasion/. Become a business
sponsor ($250 & up) or individual sponsor (at any amount) by sending your
tax-deductible contribution to Pirate Invasion, Inc. P.O. Box 3404, Bald
Head Island, NC 28461. For more information on in-kind contributions of
housing or volunteering, please contact Sandy Kades at firstname.lastname@example.org or
call her at 804-382-1407.
The BHI Club is hosting their Hot Havana Nights Party this coming Saturday,
June 16 from 6-10pm, with smooth latin music by Pamoja, and a menu of
Cuban-inspired delicacies, along with a cigar bar and rum tastings. For
reservations, contact the Club at 910-457-7300.
Betsy Nelson is back for the summer and teaching art classes at All About
Art starting tomorrow. Betsy will teach Monday through Friday all summer,
and Peggy Cleary will be teaching every Saturday, so drop by and say hi,
and peruse the new artworks and jewelry just arriving for the season.
The annual Member-Member golf tournament is fast approaching - taking place
Thursday, June 21 - Sunday, June 24. Its one of my favorite golf events of
the year, with fabulous food and great fellowship among your fellow
islanders. The Champions' Dinner kicks off the weekend on Thursday evening
- hosted by last year's winners, John Liles III and Ryland Pruett - and
the golf rounds will be played on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Find
a partner or sign up as a single, the golf professional staff will be happy
to match you with a fellow member. It's a mixed gender event, so ladies
and gentlemen are both welcome, and can even partner together to form a
team :). For more information, call Brian at the pro shop at 910-457-7310.
The pirates are coming to All About Art this Thursday! Come and meet artist
Don Maitz, who is also known for his Captain Morgan Rum advertisements.
Don's art will be on display, along with some iconic prints, so drop by for
a glass of wine and some hors d'oeuvres.
Through the season, many events take place weekly, including the following:
Sunset Celebration at Riverside Adventures & Delphina, sponsored by Bald
Head Island Real Estate Sales.
Shoals Club's Half-price Appetizer night for full members at Latitudes
"Turtle Tuesday" at Turtle Central from 4-6pm - enjoy a wine tasting,
shopping specials, corn hole and much more, and support the Conservancy's
on-going efforts to protect our sea turtles.
The Conservancy hosts their Turtle Trots each Wednesday. Registration
begins at 8:30am and the race begins at 9:30am. All proceeds benefit
turtle protection efforts.
Free Corkage night at the BHI Club, where full members pay no corkage fees
for bottles brought from home.
Old Baldy's night-time climbs to the top of the light. Reservations are
required, so call 910-457-7481 or go to www.oldbaldy.org to reserve your
spot. Climbs begin at 7:30pm in June, and at 7pm in July & August.
Enjoy this wonderful summer day on the island with your friends & family,
and we'll see you 'round the Market!
