Friday Specials at the Maritime Market - 1/12


Good Morning Fellow Islanders!

It's 58 degrees on the front porch this morning, and the pre-dawn skies are
dark & blustery with a south wind whipping up the surf - its roar echoing
through the dunes amidst the damp remnants of an inch of overnight rain.
There's more to come, and we'll see continued cells moving inland from the
south through the day, with the unsettled collision of air masses possibly
spawning a thunderstorm this evening, before the cold front prevails -
dropping temperatures and clearing the skies for the weekend. Look for
temperatures to hover near 60 through the daylight hours, and dropping to
about 50 by dawn tomorrow, and continuing to drop through Saturday as the
north wind takes over. We'll bottom out near freezing by Sunday morning,
with mostly sunny skies and a brisk north wind. Low tide will occur around
10 this morning, and high tide will peak at about 4:15 this afternoon.

For breakfast this morning, Chef Marc is featuring a delectable shrimp &
avocado omelette, with a side of fresh cut frui for just $7.95. For lunch
today, Marc is presenting our fabulous seafood Friday selections, with
Calabash shrimp & flounder, and with fried calamari - either in appetizer

The Friends of Music Concert Series kicks off the new season tonight at
7:30pm at The Village Chapel. The featured artist is Cellist Keiran
Campbell, accompanied by Sarah Barham on the piano. Keiran is a recent
graduate from the Juilliard School and produces the most exquisite sounds
on the cello, while Sarah is a masters degree student at The University of
Maryland and a spectacular young talent. Join your friends for this
special presentation, and as always, the Friends of Music concerts are free
and open to the public, thanks to the generosity of our members.

The BHA will host their January Potluck dinner next Monday, January 15 from
5:30 - 8pm. This month's Potluck also features a cooking demonstration by
Stephen Naysnerski as he demonstrates "cooking under pressure" at 5:30pm.

Fred McWhorter has recently completed construction of Island Mini-Storage
on Edward Teach Wynd - just across the street from Public Safety. There
are 96 units in total (5x10, and 10x10), and he's already 40% leased. If

After the first round at the Sony Open in Hawaii, Joel Dahmen is at -2 and
tied for 41st, while Martin Piller is at +2 - tied for 116. There are 154
golfers in the field, and a lot of golf to play, so if you're watching the
action, look for Martin & Joel on the Golf Channel. You can't miss them -
they're both wearing our performance polos from Bald Head Blues :)

The Smith Island Social takes place on Saturday night, January 27th at the
BHI Club during "meeting weekend". Reservation deadline is Saturday 13th,
and the cost is $50/person, so call the Club at 910-457-7300 to reserve
seats. The event is open to all property owners and their guests.
