Saturday Specials at the Maritime Market - 7/15

Good morning Fellow Islanders!

It's 82 degrees on the front porch this morning, with a last quarter moon
high in the sky, and the twilight of dawn quickly scaring away the
remaining darkness. It's a bit breezy out, and the winds are stirring up
the South Beach surf, sending a roar over the dunes. We'll start the day
with plenty of sunshine, and we'll see temperatures inching up to the mid
80's, with a blustery wind coming off the water. We'll then see increasing
clouds in the afternoon, with a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm
through the evening hours. The unstable air will then linger through the
middle of next week, with cells of showers or storms popping up all around
us. Some will hit, and most will not :) Low tide is upon us now. High
tide will peak at about 12:15 this afternoon, and low tide returns around
6:45 this evening.

For Breakfast this morning, Chef Marc is preparing a decadent steak & eggs
- our famous grilled prime beef served with two eggs any style for just
$8.95. For lunch today, savor a slice of our fabulous lobster & brie pizza
for just $6/slice. Saturday's hot bar theme is "gourmet pizza'"! You can
also order all of our regular menu items at [1]w[2], and
those items will be ready by the time you arrive.

Chef Radar and Chef Marc will fire up the smoker again today, but you won't
see it in front of the Market - it will be out back, but still loaded with
slabs of Danish baby back ribs. Our sign-up clipboard will be located at
the deli counter. We may (or may not) have smoked pulled pork barbecue,
or smoked flank steak (our dinner last night :) so just ask at the deli

The next island-wide Litter Sweep will take place on Wednesday, July 19,
and is co-sponsored by the BHA and by the Conservancy. The sweep will
begin at 10:30am (just after the Turtle Trot), and prizes are given for the
most unusual trash, and prizes for the oldest and youngest participants,
and the first 50 kids bringing in a bag of trash will receive a water gun
:) For more information, please contact Kay Menk - at[3]

The next Friends of Music concert will take place at the Village Chapel on
Friday, July 28, with an encore presentation on Friday, August 4. These
concerts feature the Watermark Ensemble, and begin at 7:30pm. The concerts
are free and open to the public, thanks to the generosity of many donors
and "friends" of music :)

Old Baldy will celebrate National Lighthouse Day during the entire weekend
of August 4-6, beginning with the Old Baldy Buzz on Friday 4th at 4pm. On
Saturday, join your fellow islanders at an incredible 1817 themed dinner.
The evening begins on the lighthouse grounds at 5:30 with North
Carolina-made beers and spirits. The party then moves to the BHI Club for
a fabulous and authentic colonial dinner, with entertainment by the
Folkstone string band. On Sunday, enjoy a "reenactment day" back on the
lighthouse grounds, with a tribute to the Coast Guard, the light keepers,
pirates, Civil war and Old Baldy history. Sunday's events also feature
barbecue, beer & wine, with crafts and games for the kids. The Old Baldy
"Run for the Light" runs (10k, 5k and 1 mile) start at 6pm, and the evening
winds down with a movie projected onto the lighthouse at 8:30pm. For
registration and tickets for any of these events, please go to
