Friday Specials at the Maritime Market - 7/14

Good morning Fellow Islanders!

It's 82 degrees on the front porch this morning, and the twilight is
beginning to wash away the stars and the waning moonlight. A few high
clouds are in the sky, and the first early birds are singing, as a light
breeze flutters across the dunes. As the dawn breaks, we'll see mostly
sunny skies, with light southwesterly breezes and temperatures warming to
the mid 80's. We'll cool to the low 80's overnight, and warm to the mid
80's againt tomorrow, with increasing clouds throughout the day, and a
chance of a summer shower or thunderstorm tomorrow evening. The atmosphere
will then remain unsettled for the next several days, with storm cells
popping up here and there, with one or more taking direct aim at the
island. We'll see if they find their targets :) High tide will peak at
about 11:15 this morning, and low tide will occur around 5:45 this
afternoon.

For Breakfast this morning, Chef Marc is preparing our famous Belgian
blueberry waffles, with a side of our applewood smoked bacon for only
$6.95. For lunch today, Marc is presenting an authentic Louisiana crawfish
ettoufe over cajun rice for just $10.95. He's also preparing a classic New
England lobster roll, served with crispy fries for only $12.95. Friday's
hot bar theme is "Seafood'"! You can also order all of our regular menu
items at [1]w[2]ww.maritimetogo.com, and those items will be ready by the
time you arrive.

Our Island's first ever Shred Event gets underway this morning - as soon as
the shred truck arrives on the barge (around 10am :) He'll be stationed at
the new Harbor Village Park until about 2:30, and a Conservancy staff
member will be present to collect your fees (cash, check or credit card).
The cost of shredding a standard cardboard file box full of old files is
only $10/box, and the shred truck can shred the entire contents - including
the staples, paper clips, binder clips, file folders, and the box itself.
Any individual, business, or non-profit is welcome to bring their old
records, and the cost is the same for all - $10/box.

Chefs Radar and Chef Marc will be tag-teaming our custom smoker out front
today - smoking up a mess of Danish baby back ribs and whole pork butts
(which then become pulled pork barbecue). He's already done a batch of
beef flank steak, and he'll be featuring the flank steak in the hot box
today with mushroom demi and a side of mashed potatoes. The ribs and
pulled pork will be available for pick-up after 5pm - only to those who
sign up on the clipboard by the cooker.

Memorial Services for Carol Sauder will take place at 11am this morning at
the Village Chapel, followed by a reception next door at the BHA.

Young Claude has kicked off a "prime" on-line sales event at
www.baldheadblues.com, with 20-50% off site-wide. It's a great opportunity
to find your favorite items at a discount before the season ends.

You'll now find a bountiful Seafood Buffet each Tuesday & Friday evening at
the BHI Club, starting tonight! Adults are only $29.95++ and children 3-11
are only $12.95++ Call the Club at 910-457-7300 for reservations.

The next island-wide Litter Sweep will take place on Wednesday, July 19,
and is co-sponsored by the BHA and by the Conservancy. The sweep will
begin at 10:30am (just after the Turtle Trot), and prizes are given for the
most unusual trash, and prizes for the oldest and youngest participants,
and the first 50 kids bringing in a bag of trash will receive a water gun
:) For more information, please contact Kay Menk - at[3] kgmenk@gmail.com.

Old Baldy will celebrate National Lighthouse Day during the entire weekend
of August 4-6, beginning with the Old Baldy Buzz on Friday 4th at 4pm. On
Saturday, join your fellow islanders at an incredible 1817 themed dinner.
The evening begins on the lighthouse grounds at 5:30 with North
Carolina-made beers and spirits. The party then moves to the BHI Club for
a fabulous and authentic colonial dinner, with entertainment by the
Folkstone string band. On Sunday, enjoy a "reenactment day" back on the
lighthouse grounds, with a tribute to the Coast Guard, the light keepers,
pirates, Civil war and Old Baldy history. Sunday's events also feature
barbecue, beer & wine, with crafts and games for the kids. The Old Baldy
"Run for the Light" runs (10k, 5k and 1 mile) start at 6pm, and the evening
winds down with a movie projected onto the lighthouse at 8:30pm. For
