Saturday Specials at the Maritime Market - 5/6

Good morning Fellow Islanders!

It's 60 degrees on the back porch this morning, with a few high wispy
clouds mingling with the morning stars, and a brisk wind coming off the
water. The South Beach surf sounds a bit agitated - it certainly was when
we came across last night - tossed about on the ferry as the waves cascaded
over the main decks and even spraying those on the upper deck. Look for
continued blustery conditions today, with mostly sunny skies and highs in
the upper 60's. Westerly winds may gust to the 30mph range - otherwise
sustained in the mid 20 mph range before slightly tapering off this
evening. There's a slight chance of an overnight shower, but otherwise,
temperatures will drop to the low 50's, and then warm to the low 70's
tomorrow, under mostly sunny skies and blustery winds. Look for crisp &
mild days on Monday & Tuesday, with very low humidity and much lighter
winds. Low tide occur just after 11 this morning, and high tide will peak
at about 5:30 this afternoon.

Many thanks to Bonny McClain for guest-writing the daily email this week -
and for taking such great care of Ricky & Lucy :) Bonny is a great friend -
a serial renter and fellow islander, and we very much appreciate her
willingness to cover for us in our absence. Melissa and I enjoyed our
brief trek up to the mountains, amidst the rolling fog, cool mornings,
light showers, and persistent babbling of the nearby mountain streams.

For breakfast this morning, Chef Marc is presenting an awesome eggs
benedict, with layers of country ham and perfectly poached eggs, all
smothered in a light hollandaise and served with a side of fresh cut fruit
for only $8.95. For lunch today, Marc is preparing a spicy buffalo shrimp
wrap with bleu cheese crumbles, crisp romaine lettuce, diced tomatoes, and
a side of our house made potato chips for only $10.95. You'll find a
selection of Calabash seafood on the hot bar today, and you can also order
all of the regular menu items at [1]w[2], and those
items will be ready by the time you arrive.

Grayson Murray is hanging strong at the PGA Tour's Wells Fargo
Championship. Round 2 was suspended yesterday and will wrap up this
morning, but Grayson is currently only 1 stroke off the lead. Third round
action will begin later this morning, and you can follow the drama in
person (just a short drive up the coast), or on the Golf Channel or on CBS
Sports later this afternoon. Look for Grayson - you can't miss him - he'll
be wearing a Performance Polo, belt & slacks from Bald Head Blues :) Over
on the Tour, Chase Parker shot a 66 yesterday - easily making the
cut and moving into a solid position for the weekend in Punta Cana, Mexico.
Chase is also wearing our performance polos, and you can catch highlights
on the Golf Channel.

The next Howl at the Moon Sunset/Moonrise Beach Party takes place this
coming Wednesday, May 10, and is sponsored by Bald Head Island Limited Real
Estate Sales! We'll gather as usual at beach access 39, from 7-9pm, with
the ancient melodies of our bagpiper, and the warmth of the bonfire. Chef
Marc will be bringing a huge pot of soup. BYOB and bring an appetizer to
share. The sun will set at 8:02pm, preceded by the full moon rising from
the Atlantic at 7:54pm.

The Market will host its next "Side Porch Steamer" event on Sunday evening,
May 28, and as daily email subscribers, you have first dibs on claiming
your seats, so register now
at [3] We'll be
steaming up a mess of mussels and littleneck clams, served with two
delicate & delicious broths, with crusty bread, along with steamed old bay
shrimp, barbecued chicken, and a load of your favorite sides. Mark Daffer
will be returning to serenade the crowd, and we'll light up the tiki
torches & fire pits as well :) Adults are only $29.95 plus tax/gratuity,
and children under 12 are only $14.95 plus tax/gratuity. We'll also have
beer & wine available by the glass, or you can step inside the Market and
grab your own bottle or six-pack. The event will sell out, so don't delay!

Don't forget to follow us on our various social media platforms. Josie
Moll is posting more events, store specials and pictures, so [4]follow us
on Facebook, [5]Twitter and [6]Instagram . In addition, young Claude is
very active on Social media, and posts many items related to [7]Bald Head
Blues[8] and island living - both on [9]Instagram and [10]Facebook.

Enjoy this wonderful day on the island with your friends & family, and
we'll see you 'round the Market!
