Friday Specials at the Maritime Market - 4/14

Good Morning Fellow Islanders!

It's 64 degrees on the front porch this morning, with a light northerly
breeze stirring in the palms and a few early birds singing to the waning
moon high in the sky. We've had an incredible run of gorgeous spring days
this week, and the run continues today, with mostly sunny skies, light
northeasterly breezes, and highs in the low 70's. We'll drop to the low
60's tonight, and warm to the mid 70's tomorrow, with mostly sunny skies,
light southerly breezes and no chance of rain in the forecast. For Easter
Sunday, look for more of the same, with a touch more breeze coming off the
water. High tide will peak at about 10:30 this morning, and low tide will
occur around 4:15 this afternoon.

For breakfast this morning, Chef Marc is making our delcicous Belgian
waffles, topped with fresh strawberries & whipped cream, and served with a
side of our crispy applewood smoked bacon for only $5.95. For Lunch today,
Marc is featuring a smoked beef brisket sandwich with pepper jack cheese
and barbecue sauce on a brioche roll, with a side of our house made potato
chips for just $9.95. Friday's hot bar theme is "Seafood"! You can also
order all of our regular menu items at [1]w[2]ww.maritimetogo.com, and
those items will be ready by the time you arrive.

The Ice Cream Shop is now open, and we're also serving cocktails on the new
Forest Pavilion. Chef Marc has also put together an appetizer menu for the
Pavilion, and a dinner menu for the Cafe, so come and join us! Some of the
menu selections include a charcuterie & cheese plate, a Cape Fear flatbread
with brie, lobster, arugula & truffle oil, and a few other surprises. All
are available until closing (8pm).

Grayson Murray started strong yesterday at the PGA Tour's RBC Heritiage
Classic at Harbor Town in Hilton Head. He's currently at -4, and tied for
11th place. You can catch all of the 2nd round action on the Golf Channel
this afternoon from 3-6pm. You can't miss him - he'll be wearing our
performance polos from Bald Head Blues :)

Pete & Jos at Island Hardware are reporting that their first shipment of
spring plants have arrived, so head over and peruse their selections.

The Market is open until 8pm tonight & tomorrow night. We'll close EARLY on
Easter Sunday - at 1pm, so our staff can enjoy this sacred holiday with
their families.

The Conservancy's next Turtle Trot takes place this Saturday. Registration
begins at 8:30am, and the race begins at 9am. Meet at Turtle Central, or
you can register on-line at www.bhic.org.

The next Island-wide Litter Sweep will take place on Saturday morning at
10am. Meet at the Fire Station on Edward Teach Wynd to pick up gloves,

from Noon-2pm. Member charge or credit card only - no cash.

and features free climbs to the top of Old Baldy, plus an Easter Egg hunt,
a huge birthday cake, a flag dedication, and VIP presentations. The event

For those holding a CONFIRMED reservation for Saturday's Side Porch Oyster
Roast, the event begins at 5pm, but plan on arriving a little early to pick
up your wrist bands, drink tickets & lobster tickets. Seating is family
style, so you'll have table mates! Mark Daffer will begin playing at 5pm,
and we'll open the buffet lines around 6pm. Please do NOT be a "no show"!!
We have many folks on the WAITING LIST, and if your plans have changed,
please let us know, so we can let someone else enjoy the event. If you're
currently on the WAITING LIST, look for an email from me by the end of
today with an update on your status. You can add your name to the waiting

This was a great success last year and “hunchback” promises to be another
winner. The program is open to the public and free of charge, thanks to the
many generous contributions from our members.

The 10th Anniversary of BHI's Wounded Warrior Family weekend will take

for Freedom Warrior Foundation (a 501-C-3 non-profit organization), and
100% of donations go toward the cost of hosting this event and supporting
the families. I'll post the full schedule of activities as the date
approaches, but donations are needed now to help fund the weekend. Please
make checks payable to Halo for Freedom Foundation, and please write "BHI
Weekend" in the Memo field. Then, please mail or drop your check to the
Bald Head Association, PO Box 3030, Bald Head Island, NC 28461.

The Pirates are returning to Bald Head Island!! The Pirate Invasion takes
place the weekend of June 23-25, and the weekend is sponsored by many of
the island's businesses and homeowners, and coordinated by BHI Pirate
Invasion, Inc - an organization formed by Sandy Kades to faciliate bringing
the Pirates back to the island. For those who recall the Pirate invasions
of the past, this weekend will be very familiar, with a sea battle, sword
fights, ghost walks, a pancake breakfast, and special interactive and
educational events all weekend. Sandy is in need of volunteers to help
orchestrate the weekend and to help house the pirates! Also, donations are
greatly appreciated to help off-set the costs of travel & housing. Please
reach out to Sandy at sekades@aol.com.
